It would seem that hotel companies are taking notice of that fact, with the CapitaLand subsidiary Ascott LTD. announcing plans to open no less than 5 new properties in the country over the next year and a half, with an additional plan to set up a new brand aimed at the demographic of their younger guests.
Ascott’s general manager for Thailand, Jean Keijdener, has stated that this announcement is part of the company’s larger plan to open over 30 properties globally within the year. According to Keijdener, the company foresees continuous growth for the country, which explains the announcement, and the company’s efforts to find prospects across the countries.
The planned developments in Thailand will add to Ascott’s already impressive reach, with over 22,000 units currently being developed, plus 29,000 additional units completed and fully-operational all over the globe; in the Asia Pacific region, America, Europe and even the Middle East, which would bring the total to about 52,000 units spread out globally across the company properties, numbering at least 300.
Keijdener has stated that properties are planned to be completed and opened to the public within the next 18 month timespan, with the following four properties currently under works:
- Citadines Jomtien Beach Pattaya
- Citadines North Pattaya
- Somerset Maison Asoke Bangkok,and
- Somerset Habourview Sri Racha
On top of the following developments, the company also has the Somerset Ekamai Bangkok project, which, in a company-first, is a mixed-use development. The company also succeeded in acquiring a managerial contract for the Em District’s The Park, an upscale residence located in Soi 24 of Sukhumvit, in the country’s capital.
The new brand is slated for launch sometime within the next 2 years. Like those under the group, it is designed to cater for long-staying guests, but is aimed towards a younger demographic.
Ascott has many plans for the future in the country of Thailand, so that early bird booking in Sukhumvit promo might just end up having their name on it.
